Big, Big News

So, I know I’ve disappeared. That’s mainly because I can’t keep a secret worth anything. I am very pleased and happy to announce that I am now represented by Nicole Resciniti at the Seymour Agency. You can read more about her at http://www.theseymouragency.com/About-Us.html

I pitched my fantasy Enemy Hearts to Nicole at RT. She loved the idea and asked for a full which I sent the day after conference was over. A week later I got an email asking if it was still available. The next day she called to offer representation. I accepted immediately and withdrew everything else I had out as Nicole was my top choice. She loved my book and I’m thrilled to have someone as excited about my stuff as I am. 🙂

I am still a little stunned to have an agent, especially since it happened so quick. Yes, I was out on submission for a long time with Realm Walker, but I had only sent about 10 queries on Enemy Hearts before RT and still hadn’t heard back from most of them when I sent the emails withdrawing the submission.

Anyway…Yay!

Other news: Book 2 of the Realm Walker series is back with my editor. Unless she finds something I really screwed up I believe the next step is the copy editor.

Also, holy crap, when did that timer over there go down to three months? I may be starting to panic a little guys.

And the winners are…

Winner 1: Alexis Hunter

Winner 2: Noelle Kelly

Bonus winner: Sunny Schmiege

Winner 1 and 2 will get a box of RT goodies. Our bonus winner gets a smaller selection of goodies but still just as awesome. Use the form on the contact me page to send me your addresses ladies. I’ll get the boxes out as soon as I can. 🙂 Congratulations and thank you for entering.

Oh, and watch for another giveaway closer to release day.

RT13 Giveaway

So I went to RTbooklovers convention this year. It was a blast. So much fun and I met so many new people. It also took me a while to recover and sort through the massive piles of stuff I got. I’ll do a recap post in the next day or so, but in the meantime I’m giving you the chance to win one of two boxes full of stuff. Each box is guaranteed to have at least one autographed book, autographed swag, other books, bookmarks, postcards, trading cards, pins, and whatever else I can find to divvy up. Unfortunately due to shipping costs, this one has got to be US only. Sorry international peeps. I’ll do one for you closer to my release date.

I’ll also have a big announcement related to RT coming up soon, so stay tuned.

You’ll have to click the link below to enter because WordPress doesn’t support Javascript and I can’t find a giveaway program that’s not javascript. It’s totally worth it though I promise. 🙂

Update

So book 2 is in to my editor. Waiting to hear back from her. I hope she likes it as much as I do. As predicted it was a dark, gut wrenching book to write. That being said, I love it. I might even like it better than the first book and y’all know how much I loved that one.

I am officially preparing to go back on submission. This time with my fantasy romance Enemy Hearts. Everytime I come back to this book I love it more. That’s a good thing. Wish me luck.

We are creeping ever so slowly toward my release day. And in a little less than a month I’ll be going to the RT booklovers convention which is an awesome convention I’ve always wanted to go to. This time its in my own backyard so of course I have to go. I can’t wait. It will also be my first public appearance as a published author even though the book won’t be out until fall.

Guess that’s it. What’s up with you guys?

It has to be said

So first off, let me say I’m still busy writing so nothing new to report there.

But after the day I’ve had today I want to say this: there is no value in tearing someone down just to tear them down. It gains you nothing. It makes you look little and petty and spiteful. If the matters that you are going to run your mouth about in no way concern you, maybe you should shut the hell up and reconsider. Let people live their lives and work their jobs. And you do the same.

If you spend so much time focused on someone else and what you can do to bring them down, to make their existence more difficult, you’re going to end up doing it to yourself. And they’re going to be standing on the sideline watching and enjoying the show.

Derby Day

Today was Pinewood Derby day for the cubscouts. It was an eagerly anticipated day as I have both a tiger cub and a bear cub. My bear cub placed fourth out of 27 scouts which I thought was phenomenal. Very proud of him.

My tiger cub placed first out of the Tiger cubs and 3rd in the championship race! We were kind of stunned by that one. A big first derby for him. Very proud of him as well.

Perhaps what made me the proudest today was how excited my eldest was for his little brother. Even though he didn’t win in his heats and didn’t get to go on to the Championship himself, there was no resentment or foul moods. He was right there cheering his brother on, even jumping up and down when he won first. That let me know we’re doing something right as parents.

Release Date!

Yes, that right I have an official release date.

Realm Walker – Book One of the Juliana Norris Novels will be released on 10-28-2013.

While that may seem a long time off, it’s not really. And I think Halloween week is an absolutely perfect time for it to be released. It totally fits the dark theme of the book. Anyway, just wanted to share.

Also I will be a regular blogger at Here be Magic – the link is in the sidebar. It’s a group of paranormal and fantasy authors that have invited me into their ranks. I’ll let you know when I have a post up over there. It’s an awesome blog though so you should just check it out anyway. I think that’s it for the moment.

As a general note

I generally don’t talk about the day job on here, but something needs to be said. My supervisor gets a complaint about me every other month. Generally it is because I tell someone “No.” and they don’t like it.

People have a tendency to tell me the way they think things should be done, or they argue with me about what they know that they think I don’t. If I tell them they are wrong or that I can’t do anything to help them, I am mean. I am unhelpful or bitchy.

And of course they usually neglect to mention the arguing they did with me or the yelling or on occasion the names they called me.

Just for y’all’s reference, complaining about me to my boss, my husband, or any one really, does not make me more inclined to help you. Nor does it intimidate me into doing what you want.

That’s all. Hope y’all had a better day than I did.
